Spring: What's On?

Artist impression

With the (extra) long weekend approaching, school holidays in full swing and spring arriving - Melbourne is buzzing! Olio Officer is located under 60min from Melbourne CBD making it easy to enjoy everything the city has to offer. With so much happening, we’ve compiled a list of local and city activities for you to choose from this long weekend.

Walk The Tan Track
Spring is a beautiful time of the year, and what better way to experience it than at the Royal Botanic Gardens? If you’re looking to stay active while seeing the flowers bloom, a lap of ‘The Tan’ (the path circling the Royal Botanic Gardens in South Yarra) is the place to do it. This circuit is easily reachable from the city centre and is a great addition to the weekend.

Watch the Grand Final
The 2022 Grand Final is slated for its traditional time slot of 2:30 pm AEST on Saturday, September 24. The game is also set to be played at the MCG; so, if you’re not attending the game, invite some friends over and enjoy the afternoon watching it at home!

Visit the National Gallery of Victoria

Known as the ‘NGV’ to locals, the National Gallery of Victoria is Australia’s oldest, largest and most popular art museum. Currently on exhibition is ‘The Picasso Century’, along with ‘Making Art: Imagine Everything is Real’, which features a range of hands-on activities for children, teenagers and families. These are not exhibitions you want to miss – both are running until 9 October.

Spend an afternoon on Puffing Billy

Almost every Melburnian has a special memory on board Puffing Billy, and it’s located just a 30min drive from Olio! A ride on board Puffing Billy is an inclusive and special way to experience the forest, rolling hills and open farmland in the heart of the Dandenong Ranges.

Enjoy a Picnic
Olio is situated in the perfect location to have access to several parks and reserves. Enjoy the long weekend by meeting up with friends or family to enjoy the spring weather. Visit the Olio website to discover the nearby parks and reserves, with Officer Recreation Reserve located just 1.5km from Olio.
